Your Leading Cryogenic Valve Manufacturer in China
JiangHeng cryogenic valve has the characteristics of low fluid resistance, smooth flow channel, rapid opening and closing, and easy automatic control, so it has been more and more widely used. Cryogenic valves are widely used in the LNG industry (liquefied natural gas), air separation industry, cryogenic ethylene industry, liquefied petroleum gas and other industries. After years of hard work, JiangHeng has successfully developed a full range of cryogenic gate valves, ball valves, butterfly valves, check valves, globe valves, etc.
In the case of -196°C, the stem extension length of JiangHeng cryogenic valve is optimized and calculated to achieve the control of steep drop in temperature gradient. Graphite-metal composite gaskets are used to maintain a constant sealing specific pressure in thermal expansion and contraction.
According to your requirements, JiangHeng can also customize special cryogenic valves containing rare materials, sizes, sealing surface materials, driving methods, pressure sizes, colors and other requirements.
Whether you choose a cryogenic valve for industrial or general use. JiangHeng is your best supplier. We offer competitive prices while also guaranteeing quality.
Cryogenic Valve Anatomy Diagram
Extreme Cryogenic
- Zero leakage guarantee: Through the three-stage cryogenic treatment process, the shrinkage stress of the material is eliminated to ensure 100% zero leakage in ultra-low temperature conditions
- Long-life operation: The independently developed vacuum jacket design blocks external heat conduction and its life is three times longer than that of conventional valves.
Precise Control
- Material revolution: Nano-scale lattice reconstruction technology is used to increase the -196°C impact toughness by 220% (ASTM E23 certification)
- Intelligent escort: integrated low-temperature strain sensing system, real-time monitoring of valve body deformation, fault warning rate reaches 99.8%
- Globally stringent certification: Passed 19 international certifications including API 598/6D, EN 12567, ISO 28921-1, etc.
FAQ—Cryogenic valve
Cryogenic valves are specially used for extremely low temperature media below -40℃ (such as LNG, liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen, liquid argon). The core applications include:
- Liquefied natural gas (LNG) : storage tank inlets and outlets, transport ship pipelines;
- Air separation equipment : liquid oxygen/liquid nitrogen separation and transportation;
- Aerospace field : liquid hydrogen/liquid oxygen rocket fuel control;
- Low temperature chemical industry : ethylene and liq
Key Differences:
- Low temperature resistance of materials : The valve body is made of austenitic stainless steel (304/316L) or low temperature alloy (such as Invar) to avoid low temperature brittle cracking;
- Extended bonnet design : Extended valve neck (100-500mm) isolates external heat and prevents packing from freezing;
- Double sealing structure : primary seal (metal hard seal) + secondary seal (graphite/PTFE), ensuring no leakage at -196℃.
Material selection depends on medium temperature:
- -100℃~-196℃ : 304/316L stainless steel (ASTM A351 CF8M);
- Below -196°C : Nickel-based alloys (Inconel 625, Monel K500);
- Stem/Fastener : Low temperature steel (ASTM A320 L7) or precipitation hardened stainless steel (17-4PH).
Key installation specifications:
- Pre-cooling treatment : slowly inject low-temperature medium (cooling rate ≤ 50℃/h) to prevent thermal stress cracking;
- Direction calibration : ensure that the valve flow direction is consistent with the medium (especially one-way sealing valve);
- Vacuum insulation : The valve is covered with multiple layers of insulation material (such as a vacuum jacket);
- Bolt pre-tightening : Use special low temperature bolts (AISI 316L) and apply torque lubricant.
Leakage causes and countermeasures:
- Sealing surface ice : lengthen the valve stem and fill it with dry nitrogen to isolate moisture;
- Uneven material shrinkage : Choose valve bodies and seals with similar thermal expansion coefficients;
- Loose bolts : Metal shrinks at low temperatures and needs to be tightened regularly (using a torque wrench).
Core certification standards:
- BS 6364 : Special standard for the design and testing of cryogenic valves;
- ISO 28921 : General specification for industrial cryogenic valves;
- SHELL MESC SPE 77 : Shell LNG project valve technical requirements;
- PED 2014/68/EU : EU Pressure Equipment Directive (for use below -196°C).
Test steps:
- Normal temperature test : 4.0MPa nitrogen pressure (in compliance with API 598);
- Low temperature test : immerse in liquid nitrogen (-196℃) and pressurize to 1.1 times the working pressure, and use helium mass spectrometer to detect leaks (leakage rate ≤ 1×10⁻⁶ mbar·L/s);
- Cyclic test : retest after 50 cycles of hot and cold (-196℃↔25℃).
Maintenance strategy:
- Regular defrosting : When the machine is shut down, purge the valve cavity with dry nitrogen to avoid ice crystal accumulation;
- Lubrication management : Only use low-temperature grease (such as Krytox GPL series);
- Seal monitoring : Use an infrared thermal imager to detect abnormal valve neck temperature every 6 months (to determine insulation failure).
